Research Coordinator | LemurDx
This position is for the LemurDx research study, an NIH-funded project that aims to test smartwatch software (LemurDx) designed to distinguish days when children with ADHD are on versus off their medication based on their levels of hyperactivity in various contexts. The study will enroll 100 children ages 6-12 with ADHD, and involves two in-lab visits with the child and caregiver, and monitoring their data collection over 1 week of wearing the smartwatch. This study is a collaborative effort let by PI Dr. Traci Kennedy at Pitt, Dr. Mayank Goel at CMU, and Mr. Sam Shaaban at Nurelm. It is within the Youth and Family Research Program, which includes a number of other studies focusing on ADHD, digital health, and substance use. The Research Coordinator will lead all aspects of the study, including setting up standard operating procedures and databases, participant recruitment, screening potentially eligible participants, scheduling visits, leading participant lab visits including clinical interviews with caregivers, and monitoring data collection outside of the lab. They will help the PI establish a standardized lab protocol for participant visits (including activities designed to elicit a variety of types of movement from the participant), and a behavioral coding protocol to code children’s levels of hyperactivity during the lab visit. Additionally, the Research Coordinator will oversee the work of a Research Specialist on this project as well as research students in the lab. They will help coordinate activities among the three collaborative sites and coordinate all aspects of the study. They will lead study team meetings, maintain study documentation, and oversee all IRB submissions and modifications. In addition, the research coordinator may contribute to conference presentations and/or manuscripts, though this is not required. This position is grant funded. **Responsibilities:** + Perform duties for approved research projects according to defined protocols and procedures including appropriate collection, recording, and storage of data. + Assist in hypothesis generation, data collection, data analysis and data presentation and publication. + Complete online IRB certification modules 1 and 2 (Research Practice Fundamentals) in accordance with Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. + Assist in data collection and data entry and quality control of data. + Revise, renew and maintain IRB approval, protocols and consent forms for studies. + Maintain laboratory inventory, including timely ordering and receipt of required supplies and their proper storage. + Administer questionnaires and assist with procedures for obtaining patient screening and recruitment as well as obtaining research specimens. + Maintain a safe clean laboratory-working environment including appropriate equipment maintenance and usage, by conforming to laboratory and hospital policies and standards. + Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintains scientific integrity including accurate data storage. + Follow the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient. + B.A. degree, or equivalent combination of experience and training - including 3-5 years of experience in coordinating multiple aspects of research projects (patient recruitment, assessment, treatment planning, and data collection,) required. + Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Products). + IRB experience preferred. + Ability to accurately collect, and store research data. + Data management skills, including experience with REDCap, preferred. + Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. + Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff and investigators as well as maintain patient confidentiality. + Strong organizational skills. + Ability to work independently, must be able to work a flexible schedule based on study needs. + Ability to interact with patients/study participants, caregivers, and research and medical staff. + Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. + Knowledge of the principles of growth and cognition over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department's policy and procedures. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
