The Department of Neurological Surgery has an outstanding opportunity for a **full-time (100%) Research Coordinator (RC)** who will work on the Indian Health Services Dementia Training and Education Resource (IDTER) project training grant, within the departmental research providing clinical engagement opportunities. This dynamic position will be responsible for supporting the startup, implementation, and overall operations for the training implementation withing Indian Health Services (IHS).
This position requires the ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member. The position requires interaction with PI’s, Project Directors, physicians, other health care personnel (e.g., nurses, patient care coordinators), fiscal staff and administrators. The successful applicant will have a primary role on a clinical training project, including startup, training content and material design, budget, and negotiation. The RC will also interact with IHS staff for scheduling or training, as needed. In addition, the position will leverage the applicant’s prior research or training experience to include oversight of coordinator activities within the division including IRB submissions, the maintenance of regulatory files, budgetary assistance for a nation-wide health training project. Tracking study reimbursements and other contract and budget requirements.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Training Project Startup
+ Work with investigators, research teams and IHS clinics from across the country on the national training start-up.
+ Support the design and implementation of clinical training.
+ Manage project deadlines so they are executed successfully and completed within needed timeframes to meet research objective
+ Serve as the point-person for tracking tasks and documents between UW and the IHS, and provide reports to faculty leadership on a weekly basis.
+ Manage submissions of complex IRB submittals
+ Manage and facilitate regulatory, budgetary, contractual, and all other aspects of training protocols, ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations, institutional policies, and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as needed.
+ Obtaining and submitting budget/billing information, initiation of CTAs, developing billing grids, communicating with clinical sites.
+ Identify potential challenges and create appropriate courses of action in a timely manner and present concerns and solutions to training leadership as appropriate.Research Operations
+ Design and rollout of the training modules
+ Coordinate multiple protocol-specific training curriculum efforts across clinical sites
+ Maintain clear communication with the investigator and associated staff.
+ Reconcile and review financial issues with department staff.
+ Work closely with departmental staff and central offices to ensure financial stability, and confidentiality of the data for the projects.
+ Assist in financial audits and communicate with research investigators when financial milestones have been metProject Management
+ Interpret and apply protocols for training grants to meet successful milestones and adhere to monthly and annual timelines.
+ Prepare regular updates for the project’s progress
+ Work with training team and directors to develop standard protocols for IRB documentation, status report submissions invoicing and billing.
+ Identify and troubleshoot situations throughout the training rollout and implementation for successful outcomes.
+ Work independently on multiple projects without benefit of written policies or procedures. This position requires regular interaction with research sponsors, physicians, other health care personnel
+ Assess current clinical or administrative operations to identify and establish successful workflow for research execution
+ Work with multiple UW groups (e.g. Office of Sponsored projects, Human Subjects Division) to ensure timely implementation of each research project and compliance with regulatory agencies within and beyond the institution
+ Design, create and revise research instruments as necessary to ensure quality data that satisfies research objectives.
+ Document and implement procedures for audits to assure protocol compliance and to ensure research data quality.
+ Develop and implement corrective action plans to ensure protocol adherence and data integrity
+ Create and maintain study database tools.
+ Assist with creating and performing quality assessment and improvement methods
+ Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within required time frames to meet research objectivesOther duties as assigned **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Health Sciences or related
+ Minimum of 3 years’ experience in human subject’s research **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Demonstrated experience as a research coordinator for both investigator-initiated human subjects research projects and industry-sponsored clinical trials
+ Excellent written and verbal communication, including patient interactions, consulting, and customer service skills
+ Proficiency with standard MS Office software and database management, event planning and scheduling
+ Ability to adapt and respond appropriately to competing priorities
+ Highly self-motivated ability to take initiative to improve existing processes
+ Familiarity with NIH and federally funded research or training grants
+ Experience working in a clinical setting or for research related care
+ Skilled in conference planning and online meeting management **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Management experience
+ Experience with large scale or multi-site researcher studies
+ Previous startup, regulatory, billing experience
