The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 330 full-time faculty members, 460 courtesy faculty members, and over 350 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $67 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development. Psychiatry is the third largest department in the School of Medicine and the largest non-divisioned department. The overall annual operations funding from all sources is over $130 million. **The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator.** This permanent, full time Research Coordinator position, under the general direction of the Principal Investigators and Center Manager, will support the design, implementation, and operations of research studies involving human participants focused on conducting mental health research and evaluation in the ALACRITY Center ( https://www.uwalacrity.org/ ), with a particular focus on mental health services delivered in accessible community settings (e.g., schools). The candidate will provide professional-level support for the Center, including overall coordination of cross-disciplinary research projects (approx. 20%), conduct of clinical trials activities (approx. 50%), contribution to preparation and dissemination of findings (approx. 20%), and supporting general Center operations (approx. 10%). The candidate will work under the general direction of the Center Manager, in collaboration with multiple faculty, investigators, and staff internal and external to UW. This position must be able to work independently on multiple research projects without benefit of written policies or procedures. This position requires frequent interaction with community organizations and institutions, physicians, mental health clinicians, other health care personnel, research subjects and vendors. Multiple projects may be in progress simultaneously, with the expectation of additional projects in the future. This position may require travel within Washington state, other U.S. states, and/or off-site work during evenings and weekends. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Clinical Trials Conduct (50%) + Create procedures and protocols to ensure completion of data collection activities, logistics, and implementation of study protocols. + Implement research protocols and monitor participant adherence to protocols; take action to correct problems such as deviation from protocol requirements; verify accuracy of research data. + Oversee data collection and organization for studies, including data entry into spreadsheets and data management systems, such as REDCap, MS Excel, and MS Access. + Write or review human subjects/institutional review board applications and consent forms in compliance with applicable regulations. + Conduct interviews and user testing sessions with study participants. + Contribute to analysis of interviews and other study data. + Maintain confidentiality of respondent information and subject records. + Assist in managing subject payments for participation.Research Operations Management (20%) + Coordinate project meetings with a multidisciplinary team of researchers; this will include tracking milestones/monitoring timelines, delegating tasks, and general operations related to project functions for several studies. + Assist in establishing and maintaining contact with community research partners, including visiting community/partner agencies to discuss studies and recruitment logistics and conduct study-related procedures.Research Study Design and Reporting (20%) + Assist in designing, developing, and refining research protocols and proposals, including reviewing proposals to determine research methods best suited to study objectives. + Assist with the development of progress reports for funding agencies. + Assist in modification of procedures for collecting and summarizing data. + Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through basic data analysis, as well as the co-authoring and preparation of conference presentations and manuscripts.Support of Center Operations (10%) + Contribute to the general operations of the Center. + Perform related duties as required.Lead Responsibilities + Create procedures and protocols to ensure completion of data collection activities, logistics, and implementation of study protocols. + Implement research protocols and monitor participant adherence to protocols; take action to correct problems such as deviation from protocol requirements; verify accuracy of research data. + Coordinate project meetings with a multidisciplinary team of researchers; this will include tracking milestones/monitoring timelines, delegating tasks, and general operations related to project functions for several studies. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field, AND a minimum of one year of experience as a Research Coordinator, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** + Knowledge of and experience implementing user centered design methods for engagement of community participants into research, data sharing, and data access. + Experience creating and reviewing human subjects/institutional review board applications and consent forms. + Proficiency with software applications such as REDCap, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Access. + Prior experience following established data collection procedures or research methods. + Experience and/or aptitude in participant/client tracking and follow-up. + Ability to work on multiple projects at one time. + Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills. + Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing, and to interact positively with a wide variety of people. + Ability to prioritize work appropriately and to work effectively both as a team member and independently with minimal supervision. + Ability to produce quality work in a timely manner. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + 2-3 years of experience as a Research Coordinator. + Experience working on complex and interdisciplinary teams and settings. + Experience working with public or representing an organization to other organizations. + Experience interacting with youth. + Experience discussing topics such as trauma/PTSD, depression, and anxiety. + Experience completing telephone and/or in-person interviews, screenings and assessments. + Knowledge of Implementation Science models and methods. + Knowledge of Human-Centered Design models and methods. + Knowledge of database systems, data management and relational database programming. + Health Information Privacy Accountability Act (HIPAA), Institutional Review Board, and Good Clinical Practices training. + Strong interest in working in the health care field. + Experience making website updates and monitoring website traffic. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
