This position is responsible for coordinating research activities under minimal supervision for a complex multi-PI project. A successful applicant should be able to function independently in a research setting and is responsible for the complete coordination of assigned activities. The RC II will recruit, screen, and consent participants, and schedule research visits as required by the research protocols. They will coordinate procedures, collect, process, and ship specimens, collection and organization research data, create reports, and document where appropriate and as delegated by the investigator, per protocol/sponsor/project requirements. The Department of Animal Sciences is committed to advancing the understanding of equine health and welfare, and this study is a crucial step in achieving this goal. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinate Research Activities for Multi PI Project - Coordinates protocol related research procedures, including but not limited to Gait analysis, Activity monitoring, and Locomotion studies. - Complies with institutional policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for use of horses in research. - Collaborates with study finances including preparing/monitoring budgets purchasing & resolving study billing. - Purchase and maintain equipment by obtaining quotes for equipment and place orders. Monitor levels of lab supplies and notify necessary parties when levels are low. - Responsible for assisting in the interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures as the apply to the research program. Recommends changes to ensure compliance with federal, state and sponsor policies. - Ensures the safety of research and laboratory spaces. Responsible for practices that optimize safety and well-being of staff, students, faculty, visitors, and animals while appropriately adhering to UF Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) rules and regulations. - The position will periodically require driving a state vehicle to private horse farms for sample collection, or between collaborating labs to transfer personnel, samples and equipment. Acts as a liaison for research sponsors and research participants including Equine owners, Veterinary clinics, and Researchers from other institutions. -Will recruit, screen, and consent participants. - Coordinates research/project team meetings and travel. - Aid in production and distribution of study recruitment materials such as study brochures, and social media campaigns. - Schedule study visits according to the study protocol. Obtain informed consent; collect veterinary history, assist in completion of pre-visit questionnaires. Ensures reminder calls, letters, texts or emails are sent to study participants. Update participant tracking logs as needed. Ensure that the study documents are properly organized and manage study data in REDCap or similar software. - Responsible for project records/archives documents. Completes case report forms (paper & electronic capture) and address queries. - Coordinates the collection and organization of research data, including but not limited to videos of horse gait, sensor data, and questionnaire responses Educate and mentor junior research staff, students, OPS, or other research team members on the study protocol and procedures Perform research procedures and tests: For example, quantitative sensory testing, and observational behavior studies in horses. Normal Work Schedule:Primarily, M-F, 8 – 5, with occasional evenings and weekends to study-related recruiting and events. Expected Salary: $47,000 - $52,000; commensurate with education and experience Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
