Research Coordinator II
Job Description:The Microbiology and Cell Science department is seeking a motivated professional to serve as its Research Coordinator II. This position will play a critical role in coordinating our research programs for the department. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and practical management strategies that address pressing challenges in the field of Microbiology. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and departmental staff to coordinate and maintain the Center's research programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and sponsor policies. Key responsibilities will include data management, subject recruitment and retention, project record-keeping, and collaboration with faculty on grant proposals. The ideal candidate will also act as a liaison to execute the designation of the Center and ensure the safety and well-being of staff and participants. The incumbent will be working with faculty and the department chair on the coordination of a new Center for Disease Prediction. This will require that the incumbent coordinate efforts then ensure IRB approval and the successfully complete the Material Transfer Agreements for all aspects of the project. Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures as the apply to the research program. Recommends changes to research team protocol to ensure compliance with federal, state and sponsor policies. Acts as liaison for research sponsors and research participants. Responsible for data management using the RedCap system will be required. The incumbent will also collaborate with Center partners on following up with subjects as needed according to the IRB protocol. Responsible for retaining project records/archives documents. Completes case report forms paper and electronic capture. Oversees the collection and organization of research data. Collaborates on the development and distribution of study recruitment materials such as study brochures, and social media campaigns. Schedule study visits with participants according to the study protocol. Obtain informed consent; oversee completion of pre-visit questionnaires. Ensures reminder calls, letters, texts or emails are sent to study participants. Update participant tracking logs as needed. The incumbent will be responsible for the careful storage of all biological materials obtained prior to and after the official establishment of the Center. Ensures the safety of research. Responsible for practices that optimize safety and well-being of staff, students, faculty, and visitors while appropriately adhering to UF Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) rules and regulations. The incumbent will act as a liaison for the Chair to execute the things needed to officially designate this Center within UF. Educate and mentor junior research staff, students, OPS, or other research team members on the study protocol and procedures. The incumbent will also work with faculty on grant proposals to NIH and other sources to externally fund the Center. The incumbent may also design a logo for the Center. Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the research program. Coordinates special studies or projects as directed. Expected Salary:Commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous knowledge of the duties of a research coordinator is preferred. Coursework in microbiology is also preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact well with people and problem solve. Special Instructions to Applicants:
