Job Description:
TheResearch Coordinator IIIdescribed herein will manage (under supervision of faculty members) the UF Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a large-scale national collaborative research project that follows children, aged 9 and 10 at outset, into young adulthood. The coordinator will oversee all aspects of the day-to-day study activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigators. The coordinator will oversee and assist with the conduct of follow-up in-person visits and telephone interviews with participants, coordinate project meetings, and interface with the consortium coordinating core to manage IRB submissions, amendments and reporting. The coordinator also oversees and assists in the retention of participants, scheduling, follow-up contact, and coordination of subject payments. As the team leader, the coordinator is also responsible for facilitating a respectful and professional research environment.
RESEARCH PROTOCOL EXECUTION: Organize screening and assessment materials (e.g., data regarding neurocognitive, emotional, and brain development, school and home environment). Manage ongoing research subject and family contact. Responsible for scheduling of subject and family visits (including travel arrangements, MRI facility and laboratory scheduling, staff scheduling). Administer consortium research protocols focusing on adolescent cognitive and psychosocial development.
TRAINING AND OVERSIGHT: Train research staff and student trainees on study procedures. Oversees day-to-day protocol execution and ensures protocol adherence and data collection quality. Primary liaison between MPIs and study team.
DATA BASE MANAGEMENT: Oversee database management, data input, and data quality. Works closely on a daily basis with the national consortium database personnel, the PIs, pre-doctoral students, undergraduate researchers, and postdoctoral associates in managing data and assisting in data input. Train and manage research personnel on data scoring, entry and verification.
RETENTION: Oversees and works directly with the PIs and Retention staff member(s) to ensure participant families remain involved in the study over the life of the project. Distribution of retention materials, organizing telephone contacts, and maintaining reliable contact information for participant families.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Organizes weekly study team meetings with MPIs and recurring meetings with key study personnel. Coordinates transportation of human subjects (and family members) between the research setting and their private homes or local accommodations. Maintains inventory of necessary research-related supplies, materials, and equipment for the laboratory, replenishing items as needed. Oversees dissemination of payments and preparation of associated forms.
Expected Salary:
$55,000 - $60,000; commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in public health, Social Work, Psychology or related health field background.
+ Experience administering diagnostic interviews and other test batteries required with preference given to those who have worked with both children and parents. This may include but not be limited to health problems and health history, diagnostic data such as laboratory tests and neurocognitive testing.
+ Five or more years of experience conducting research in children and adolescents preferred.
+ Candidate should be comfortable discussing sensitive behaviors such as substance use with participants and their families.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to address family concerns in a sensitive and transparent way.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Experience effectively managing teams, particularly teams engaged in human subject research.
+ Demonstrated skills in leadership and professionalism.
