Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Mon Jan 20 2025 Job Description: Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4) Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 The Office of Strategic Research Initiatives (OSRI) enables the successful implementation of the campus research strategy and initiatives as developed by the faculty and senior administration, and in line with the campus road map. OSRI is seeking a Research Development Associate to work with the University community to position university programs and collaborative efforts for successful external funding. Under the direction of the Director for Strategic Research Initiatives, the research development associate will support the development of large, multidisciplinary research grants and conduct data collection and analysis in support of the office's research development services. The associate will work closely with staff in the Office of Strategic Research Initiatives and, more broadly, with staff and faculty across the University to support new research initiatives. Specific Responsibilities: + Support the Director and senior administration in the identification of large funding opportunities for campus research centers and institutes, based on established campus research strategies + Conduct background research to support the development of grant proposal content and the successful collaboration of multidisciplinary teams of researchers + Write, edit, and review proposals + Develop new and revised materials for the University Briefs + Support proposal teams in the collection and presentation of data and metrics + Assist with analysis of research metrics resources + Support proposal teams by attending meetings, keeping minutes, and ensuring work flow Job Requirements: + Master's degree + Demonstration of technical writing and editing + Ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct way + Comfort with regular interaction with senior administration, faculty, staff, students and the community + Strong ability to work in team-based environment to achieve common goals + Ability to maintain confidentiality + Ability to exercise independent judgment in responding to inquiries, display tact and sensitivity and be solution-driven Preferred: + Ph.D. + 3-5 years' experience in a research development activity + Background and experience in social sciences, physical sciences, or engineering + Project management experience Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Additional Information: Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s) and credentials.
