This position is within the Process Development Team part of Cell Therapy San Francisco site for Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Job summary/objective:
The Process Sciences intern will support the process development, process establishment, and process characterization for cell and gene
therapies. This position is laboratory based and requires the candidate to be eager to learn and be hands-on. The intern will function with
direct supervision from Process Sciences (PS) scientists and will be actively engaged in development and transfer of cell and gene therapy
products.


Essential responsibilities:
Support implementation of rapid development frameworks for analytics and standardization of platform protocols for accelerated deployment across multiple cell therapy programs.
•Support analytical development scientists in performing routine testing for multiple programs.
Support aseptic cell culture processing (may include T cells, NK cells, MSCs, and/or iPSCs) in ISO 5 biosafety cabinets while
using universal precautions for human tissue handling.
•Develop analytical assays to support the manufacturing of cell therapies such as flow cytometry, qPCR, ddPCR, ELISA, sterility, and potency assays.
•Design experimental plans, analyze data, author technical documents including assay protocols, test methods, and reports.
• Participate in project-team meetings to present data and project progress.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or otherpharmaceutical/biotech related field of study. Laboratory experience preferred.Strong interpersonal and communications skills; written and oral. Ability to be hands-on and a desire to learnAbility to function in a fast-paced dynamic team environment and balance prioritize multiple projects

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
Ability to function in a rapidly changing environment & handle multiple priorities.


Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Requires overtime to work evenings, weekends or holidays, as
required to meet project timelines.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $18.50–$28.75.
