As an Electrical Engineering Co-op in the Waters Global Research organization, you will be part a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers responsible for the early development of next generation technologies used in chromatography and mass spectrometry analytical instrumentation. You will assist in the design, build, and test of prototype mechanical, electrical, and software components required to develop proof-of-concept prototype instruments used to solve some of the world’s most intractable analytical problems.
Responsibilities Troubleshoot electro/mechanical problems in a variety of instruments and equipmentAssemble & test various electro/mechanical instruments and assemblies to meet department goals and objectivesAssist department scientists and engineers understand characteristics and limits of new design ideasBe capable of lab testing of circuits using electrical test equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and emulatorsInterpret design documentation as well as verbal instructions and to characterize new designsWork effectively in both an individual and cross-functional team environment QualificationsWorking towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplineDesire to learn and apply scientific/engineering principles in a research environmentBasic electrical, mechanical, and chemical knowledgeExperience in programming embedded microcontrollersExperience with programing languages C/C++, PythonData collection, graphing, and interpretation skillsSelf-motivatedGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skills
