Research Engineering Assistant – Orthopedic Research – Biomotion Lab

At Biomotion Laboratories, our collaborative team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians use state-of-the-art technologies to advance orthopedic treatments for musculoskeletal health issues. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our team. Previous experience in biomechanics research and human movement analysis is preferred!

 

Your Role and Responsibilities:

Work with our team of experts to prepare study participants for data collection, ensuring a comfortable and engaging experience. Engage in collecting biomotion data utilizing cutting-edge motion capture systems, wearable sensors, and advanced imaging techniques. Contribute to biomechanical and imaging data processing, employing specialized software and tools. Collaborate closely with researchers and faculty, supporting ongoing projects and aiding in data processing to extract meaningful insights. Participate actively in experiment design and execution, contributing your insights and ideas. Maintain laboratory equipment and foster a safe, conducive working environment. Organize and maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, data files, and participant information. Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and engaging presentations for research meetings and publications.

Position Summary:

Perform assignments, requiring at least a basic working knowledge of engineering or scientific methods, in such areas as research, design or experimental testing. Responsible for assignments that require the technical knowledge to modify or adapt routine procedures under the direction of a supervisor, to meet special research requirements.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

Sets up and operates testing or research equipment as directed by supervisor.  Makes or records observations and measurements. According to experience, may design, assemble and operate equipment used in research.  Performs detailed analyses, tests and operations.  May prepare portions of technical reports, aspects of computer programs, and specific sections of project plans.  Assists research Engineer, Sr. Research Engineer, Engineering Scientist, or faculty members with specific phases of research projects.  Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or technical field.

Minimum Experience:

None.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
