The Bose lab ((bose.suman@mayo.edu) at Mayo Clinic Arizona is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in Biomedical Engineering to join our team in the development of a cutting-edge bioelectronic living pharmacy. This innovative project aims to develop a platform which can deliver precise doses of biologics in vivo for treating chronic illnesses, leveraging the intersections of biomaterials, tissue engineering, and drug delivery. This role provides an exciting opportunity to engage in translational research within a multidisciplinary environment that combines biology, engineering, and clinical sciences. Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize bioelectronic implants containing engineered cells that facilitate the controlled delivery of biologics.Conduct animal studies to evaluate in vivo efficacy and safety of implants.Use synthetic biology approaches to develop mammalian cell lines that can produce therapeutic moleculesCollaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including experts in biomedical engineering, immunology, cellular biology, pharmacology, and clinical research.Contribute to the development of translational applications for clinical and commercial use.Publish high-impact research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a closely related field, with a preference for recent graduates.Proven expertise in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or drug delivery systems.Prior experience with animal studies and mammalian cell culture is required.Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced research environment.Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds.Excellent organizational skills and a proven track record of high-quality research outputs.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
