Summary

The GMO (Grant Management Office) is tasked with providing guidance to faculty regarding NIH, DoD, SoF, and internal and external foundation awards. The GMO facilitates faculty and Leadership with the management and allocation of funds to support the science being conducted in both the lab and clinical trials. In addition, the office ensures that compliance is being met according to sponsor guidelines and that all charges are both allocable and allowable. The office is also tasked with collaborating with the Office of Sponsored Research and Research Finance Office to submit grant proposals and file financial reports at the end of budget and grant periods.

Responsibilities:  

Oversee the management of grants/contracts provided by NIH, DoD, State of Florida, Foundations, and Pharmaceutical companies, among other funding sources. Ensure that faculty are applying grant funds in accordance to sponsor guidelines. Cooperate with the Research Finance office and Office of Sponsored Research to ensure compliance is maintained by completing timely effort reporting, assisting with progress report requests, and confirming IACUC approvals are in place. Etc. Collaborate with departments across the institution to ensure that grant proposals and closeouts occur in a timely manner. Reconcile both internally and externally funded accounts and meet with faculty monthly to review and confirm the allowability and allocability of charges. Develop financial strategies with faculty to establish funding strategies that will support lab and clinical operations in the long term.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

Level 1

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or relevant field is required with at least 1 year of financial (i.e., forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.). Financial (i.e., forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience and/or extramural funding (i.e., NIH, State of Florida, Foundation, etc.) management experience is preferred.

Level 2

Bachelor's Degree – field of study: Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting 3 years of financial (i.e. forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience, including at least 1 year of extramural funding (i.e. NIH, State of Florida, Foundation, etc.) management experience.

Level SR 

Bachelor’s Degree 5 years of financial (i.e. forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience, including at least 2 years of extramural funding (i.e. NIH, State of Florida, Foundation, etc.) management experience with a comprehensive understanding of related compliance requirements (i.e. OMB-Circulars, funding policies, NOAs, etc.) and a macro-level comprehension of operational finances.
