Position Information Posting NumberSRGV7820 Working TitleRESEARCH INTEGRITY MANAGER Number of Vacancies1 LocationMcAllen, Texas DepartmentResearch Compliance and Export Control FTE1.0 FLSAExempt Scope of Job To manage allegations of research misconduct and conflicts of interest to ensure integrity in the design, conduct and reporting of research, including the development and implementation of educational programs, policies and procedures. Description of Duties + Conducts investigations into allegations of research misconduct. + Responsible for evaluating and making determinations of conflicts-of-interests. + Receives, manages, and leads investigations of allegations of scientific, research, and/or other scholarly research misconduct that includes fabrications, falsification, or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, and/or in reporting research results. + Conducts preliminary evaluations and/or research misconduct and provides recommendations to appropriate parties for further actions. + Receives, manages, and evaluates disclosures of outside interests to determine the existence of perceived or actual conflicts of interest in research. + Develops, implements, and monitors conflicts-of-interest management plans, as appropriate. + Receives, reviews, and investigates allegations of non-compliance pertaining to undisclosed outside interests. + Evaluates potential impact in research and recommends corrective actions. + Collaborates with stakeholders, other units and committees as appropriate including, Vice Deans of Research, Faculty Research Liaison Teams, Legal Services etc., as required, in the development of protocols for evidence sequestration, investigation process, and implementation of corrective actions. + Fosters a culture of compliance and research integrity by developing and delivering training programs in the responsible conduct of research including preparing and disseminating any necessary communications to the research community in relation to research integrity matters. + Maintains current on policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to state laws, federal regulations, and national trends influencing issues of research integrity/compliance. + Provides guidance, education and strategic consultation to researchers, staff, students, and administrators regarding the interpretation and implementations of the regulatory requirements for research integrity. + Participates in the development and/or revision of relevant institutional policies and procedures as necessary to reflect the current state of the fields. + Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received General supervision from assigned supervisor. Supervision Given Direct supervision of assigned staff. Required Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Preferred Education None. Licenses/Certifications None. Required Experience + Five (5) years of experience in research administration, research compliance, or performing job related duties;or + Three (3) years of the required experience with a Master’s Degree from an accredited University. Preferred Experience Experience obtained in a higher education environment. Equipment Use of standard office equipment, especially Microsoft suite programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or equivalent email system. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Other Experience convening and coordinating committees and working groups. Excellent communication, investigational, and organizational skills, with close attention to details. Ability to work with diverse constituents. Knowledge of state, federal research integrity/compliance laws and regulations.
