Position Summary

Do you have a passion for the seed industry and want to gain a deeper understanding into inbred and hybrid corn development? Your main responsibilities will be to work with the Aerial Imagery team to develop and implement AgReliant’s Aerial Imagery and Phenotyping processes. As a member of this team, your contributions will further your and our understanding of this cutting edge field in Plant Breeding and Crop research.

 

What to Expect

In this 12 week developmental internship, you will have a chance to assist with breeding data analysis. You will be provided job shadowing opportunities in the areas of Aerial Imaging, Inbred Line and Hybrid Breeding, and Research Tools & Analytics so you can explore several aspects of commercial corn breeding research. Throughout your internship, you’ll receive regular feedback, guidance and coaching to help you develop the skills you need to succeed.

What YOU will do:

Support the Analysis, data transfer, and modelling of traits generated from our Aerial Imaging pipeline. Assist in the development and implementation of phenotyping protocols for corn hybrids using advanced phenotyping technologies. Contribute to the analysis of phenotypic data, including image processing, feature extraction, and statistical analysis to identify key traits and patterns relevant to corn breeding programs. Build professional relationships by being engaged during all assigned tasks, as well as tour and job shadowing opportunities. Ensure safety rules are followed at all times. Promote a positive image of the company and the research department. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and requirements:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree Good communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to plan and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines Ability to maintain confidential information This position will include travel to and from AgReliant field research sites. Therefore, a valid driver’s license and being able to meet AgReliant Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) requirements. Experience in geospatial data and Aerial drone piloting experience preferred, but not required. Pilots with Part 107 certification from the FAA preferred
