**Research Investigator (PhD)** **Dallas, TX** **M-F 8a- 5p** **GENERAL DESCRIPTION:** • Baylor Scott and White North Texas Region is looking for an early career PhD social scientist, ideally with a focus on social work, public health or health services research, to join an existing senior PhD social scientist in the PACER Center – Patient and Community Engaged Research Center. • The Research Investigator independently leads and manages research efforts at Baylor Scott and White Research Institute (BSWRI) and involves collaboration with other research investigators, research scientists, and clinicians to independently secure external funding, execute study deliverables as a principal investigator (PI), disseminate study results in high impact journals and present at local, national, and international conferences. • This position offers access to a large vertically integrated healthcare system with >2M lives, ideal for the departmental focus on population health research. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:** · Applies for external funding at the federal, foundation or other level and incorporates reviewer feedback into resubmissions. · Serves as principal investigator, site-PI, or co-investigator on investigator-initiated or industry-sponsored research studies and successfully executes all study deliverables. · Disseminates research in high impact, peer-reviewed journals and presents at local, national, or international conferences. · Serves as a liaison between the Institute, clinical service lines, and greater community. This includes attending or presenting at seminars, journal clubs, thesis defenses, etc. · Involved in teaching and mentoring activities of students, residents, and/or postdoctoral research fellows. **QUALIFICATIONS:** **·** Experience with and demonstrated early success in investigator-initiated research studies, with a track record of early career funding such as a career development award, pilot funding, or foundation funding. · Advanced research training in social work, public health, health services or a related field is required and Interest in patient and community-based research. **·** Interest in health systems research and learning health systems science with strong analytical skills in health services research methods. Experience working with electronic health records and claims data is a plus. **·** Established record of peer-reviewed publications. **·** Ability to effectively collaborate with clinicians and navigate the infrastructure of a large healthcare system. **·** Ability to exercise a high degree of independence, creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning, organizing, and implementing multiple scientific research projects. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** 1. Collaborate with the PACER Research Center Director, Dr. Katherine Sanchez to grow the center’s patient and community engaged research program. 2. 40% of time will be dedicated to the candidates’ personal research 3. 60% of time will be in supporting the execution of existing funded projects related community based mental health. 4. Provide educational support relevant to clinical research to staff physicians, physicians-in-training, nurses and other relevant staff 5. Assist PACER Research Center Director in activities related to clinical research program development, operations and regulatory compliance 6. Promote participation in clinical research by both staff (as investigators) and patients (as subjects) 7. Mentor junior staff and promote collaborative investigative relationships amongst clinician-researchers and other colleagues (intra- or extra-mural) 8.
