About the Position This position will join the Laboratory IT Services team (LITS) within Research Information Systems (RIS) in providing service, support, consultation, and solutions to the St Jude research communities. The Infrastructure Architect/Senior Engineer is responsible for providing inputs to network/infrastructure strategy, architecture, and standards, managing IT network/infrastructure landscape within the scope of research laboratories, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets. Responsible for delivering integration of high-end instrumentation, cloud services, and infrastructure within the overall Research Information Systems portfolio. Ensures all infrastructure projects are executed within predefined timelines and budgets in compliance with relevant regulatory or statutory compliance. This position leads team meetings on a needs basis and effectively communicates with cross-functional teams for results. Understands and uses digital tools of communication as needed. Experience or familiarity with biomedical research, high-end instrumentation, networking and information security, high performance computing, and related topics are preferred. Job Responsibilities: Provide inputs to network/infrastructure strategy, architecture, and standards. Manage IT network/infrastructure landscape within scope, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets. Responsible for delivering integration of cloud services, high-performance computing, infrastructure, and research instrumentation within the overall technology services portfolio. Ensure all Research Laboratory projects are executed within predefined timelines and budgets in compliance with relevant regulatory or statutory compliance. Define and govern incident/problem & disaster recovery for infrastructure support. Lead assessment of external and internal technology, solutions, and capabilities, and provide recommendations to business leaders. Define and maintain capacity management processes within own area of infrastructure/network operations. Benchmark, analyze, and make recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure. Train and mentor teams on emerging infrastructure/network related aspects. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Infrastructure Architect Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, business or related field of study required. Master's degree preferred. Infrastructure Architect Minimum Experience: Minimum requirement: 5+ progressive years of IT industry experience in systems operations environment, overseeing complex environment, deployment, and infrastructure management activities. Experience or familiarity with biomedical research, high-end instrumentation, networking and information security, high performance computing, and related topics are preferred. Experience in capacity planning for new products or geographic expansions. Strong proven experience in business stakeholder engagement and management. Some experience working relevant regulatory or statutory compliance requirements. Experience in relevant infrastructure operations (e.g. data center operations, HPC systems, enterprise networks, security, IasS, PasS, cloud computing). Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship within Technology Infrastructure. Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. Senior Infrastructure Engineer Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field of study required. Master's degree preferred. Senior Infrastructure Engineer Minimum Experience: Minimum experience: Four (4) years of IT experience with experience in infrastructure operations and engineering environments. Experience or familiarity with biomedical research, high-end instrumentation, networking and information security, high performance computing, and related topics are preferred. Experience in infrastructure design, systems analysis, and security management. Some experience working with commercial models around infrastructure capacity procurement. Experience in customer service and vendor management. Some experience in business stakeholder engagement and management. Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
