JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Laboratory Compliance and Regulations Ensures appropriate lab compliance with MDACC and accrediting agency regulations.
Laboratory Operation
- Manages laboratory operational workflow, including maintaining records, inventory and tracking of specimens, shopping for vendors, obtaining quotes, orders for reagents, tracking of orders, etc.
- Project Coordination of all projects that involve processing of FFPE and FF tissues and blood samples, including tracking of samples and reagents, supervision of other lab staff, coordination of batch delivery and /or shipping of samples to labs, both within MD Anderson and outside sponsors labs, and for all projects on the APOLLO Platform.
- Ensuring accurate sample logging into rBQL database, troubleshooting of machines (IHC autostainers, microtome cutting, etc.,), sample inventory, tracking and validation of samples couriered from ITB.
- Ensure scanning of all QC slides for the over 70 studies on APOLLO including creating and management of projects for all investigators, supervision, quality controls and troubleshooting of tissues processed by all lab staff.

Laboratory Liasion

Use laboratory knowledge and expertise to identify and resolve overall research laboratory operational issues and interacts with all levels of internal and external sources to resolve problems. Coordinate Special Projects and provides liaison
work within the division/department.

Bachelor's degree. Seven years experience in scientific, research or clinical laboratory, to include four years in a supervisory/managerial capacity. With preferred degree, five years of required experience to include four years in a supervisory/managerial capacity. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
