Research Program Assistant II
We are seeking a **_Research Program Assistant II_** to contribute to ongoing community-based transgender and nonbinary health and wellness surveillance. The RPAII will be responsible for all phlebotomy-related aspects of the project, including HIV testing and counseling. Additional duties may include the provision of referrals and participation in data collection activities. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Administering HIV counseling and testing. + Performing blood draws, maintaining specimen logs, managing phlebotomy supplies, assuring biohazardous material compliance. + Occasionally liaising with the lab regarding blood samples and test results, and occasionally assisting with other data collection activities. + Additional duties may include responsibility for ordering other equipment and supplies. **Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** + Phlebotomist experience. + Consistently correct use of pronouns for transgender and nonbinary people. + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. + Demonstrated experience working independently and ability to work well in an unstructured environment as well as part of a team. + Strong attention to detail and protocol adherence, while maintaining flexibility to respond to multiple priorities. + Strong organizational skills and ability to interact with a variety of people. + Proficiency in computer systems and electronic communications. + Phlebotomy training demonstrated proficiency or willingness to be trained. _*This description is a general statement of required duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. It does not exclude other duties as assigned._ **Minimum Qualifications** + High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. + Two years related experience. + Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree. + Experience with research or data collection activities. + Certification as a registered Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized agency is preferred (e.g., National Center for Competency Testing, American Medical Technologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, National Phlebotomy Association). + Maryland HIV pre- and post-test counseling certification.
