Research Program Coordinator

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Center for Biological Research Excellence (COBRE) on Opioids and Overdose and the Center for Health and Justice Transformation (The Centers) coordinates and facilitates the program objectives of all federally funded research projects and other pharmaceutical and foundation supported studies within established short and long-term goals.Coordinates the research related projects within the Centers. Administers programs and day-to-day research operations including grant management grant preparation and financial activities.Performs administrative duties secures and coordinates resources maintains partnerships across sectors and works with Directors on strategic planning in service of the Center�s missions. Provides assistance with the research efforts of the Centers as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

Works closely with the Department of Medicine Departmental Senior Research Administrator and Lifespan Office of Research (Grants and Contracts and Research Protections) personnel for all Center�s and COBRE matters.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NIH guidelines and reporting requirements and oversee and ensure compliance with NIH special terms and conditions for all projects including NIH-defined Clinical Trials.

Coordinates the annual Progress Report preparation and submission to NIGMS to ensure timely and complete reporting into eRA Commons ASSIST SIRS and other required systems.

 

Assist in the financial planning process the development of accurate financial projections and management of Center�s COBRE budgets.

 

Ensure the Center�s COBRE consistently meets programmatic milestones and objectives according to established timelines.

 

Work closely with the Director and the Centers COBRE leadership to establish measurement frameworks for program metrics.

 

Develop effective processes for collecting storing and reporting these data.

 

Coordinate and maintain the Centers Pilot Project Program Plan coordinate document and ensure action item follow-through for meetings including but not limited to the Executive Committee Internal Advisory Committee External Advisory Committee and Community Advisory Board.

 

Provide coordination and support for faculty recruitment

 

Work with the Center�s Director/Manager to develop and build Communication channels (website newsletters social media). Establishes systems and procedures for smooth coordination of activities projects initiatives and operations. Provides leadership and oversight to fund development communications staff support and development policy advocacy strategic planning evaluation and community engagement.

 

Meets on a regular basis with members of the Office of Research Administration Research Finance and departmental management as needed.

 

Works collaboratively with existing research and academic programs community-based organizations state and federal government officials public health practitioners students and nonprofit leaders.

Other related duties as necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

Master�s degree or equivalent experience.

 

3-5 years of business or administrative experience.

 

Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with databases.

 

Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.

 

Outstanding problem-solving planning and management skills with experience in organizing systems and people.

 

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including verbal and written communication skills.

 

Ability to work with a variety of people and organizations in a collegial way

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to function in office and virtual environments. Requires walking navigation of stairs and standing intermittently throughout the day. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer and other common equipment.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

 

Incumbent functions independently within a broad scope of department policies and practices; generally refers specific problems to supervisor only where clarification of department policies and procedures may be required.
