**Job Summary**
The Research Program Manager applies advanced knowledge and experience to complex, interconnected complementary projects while ensuring projects are in line with each other. Create internal budgets and budget analysis for multiple projects and report results to program leadership, where appropriate. Serve as the lead for new project startups in the translational research space. Establish and manage consistent workflows for basic research faculty in obtaining IRB approval for human subjects research projects. Serve as a communicator between faculty and IRB, HSD operations, and clinical research processes.
May ensure the completion of program activities in compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements, and that staff acquires appropriate training and certification. Provide guidance and assistance to ensure projects are making progress. Responsible for managing communication with CoRDS partners and interfacing with prospective partners.
Possess or acquire in-depth knowledge of program protocols and standard operating procedures. Familiar with concepts and vocabulary of genetics and genomics. Able to converse with a diverse group of stakeholders about study design and workflows for complex translational studies that may or may not involve patients from Sanford. Work with team members to properly request and obtain datasets from the electronic health record on behalf of faculty and other non-clinical research personnel. Work closely with the Director of Translational Research to set strategic goals for program success and create policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Responsible for submission and maintenance of regulatory documentation where applicable. Work closely with others, internal or external to Sanford, to communicate program needs and concerns. Serve as the liaison with external partners to communicate program objectives, encourage recruitment and ensure compliance with regulatory protocol, if applicable. Possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse research group or team. Occasional travel to conferences or other events will be required.
The Program Manager has authority over the program and its projects and assumes responsibility for the overall program. Contributes to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving program/project delivery. Serves as change agent, influencing stakeholders and project deliverable to change organizational culture and processes. Presents program/project proposals, updates, and outcomes to senior leadership. According to team and organizational needs, may perform project manager duties.
**Qualifications**
Must have a Bachelor's degree in health services, life sciences, biomedical sciences, nursing, or clinical field required. Master's degree in public health, health care, business, or science related fields is preferred.
Minimum of five years' experience managing full life-cycle projects desired.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or equivalent educational training) desired.
For those hired into this position with emphasis in supporting Clinical Research responsibilities as defined by Research leadership, certification through Association of Clinical Research Professions (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) is required within two years of employment into position.
For those not supporting Clinical Research responsibilities as defined by Research leadership, certification is not required.
As required by position, currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges.
