The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study at OHSU is conducting studies with pregnant people and their children in the areas of neurodevelopment, behavior, learning, environmental factors, substance exposure, and cognitive functioning under the direction of Principle Investigators, Elinor Sullivan, Ph.D., and Alice Graham, Ph.D. We have an opening for an energetic and highly motivated full-time Research Project Coordinator, Entry.

Function/Duties of Position

This position will support the project as a leading staff member, with specialization in ensuring compliance to study protocol in all aspects of the study, overseeing participant recruitment, retention, consenting, scheduling appointments and visits, interacting with participants, collecting biological samples, and running data collection visits with participants including electroencephalograms (EEGs), MRIs, and behavioral assessment with infants and children.

 

The majority of duties will include 1) coordinating and managing research project logistics, such as designing and implementing new procedures, under the direction of principal investigators, 2) overseeing recruitment and retention of study participants, 3) running data collection visits with participants including explaining the study to participating families, completing compliance forms (consent and assent), coordinating, scheduling, and completing study visits (virtual or in-person) including electroencephalograms (EEGs), MRIs, and behavioral assessment with infants and children, 4) collecting, processing, and shipping biological samples from participants, 5) coordinating study protocols with a 25 site consortium, 6) training study staff on study organization and study procedures and 7) regularly meeting with staff to assess study obstacles/successes and reporting back to the principal investigators. 

 

The Research Project Coordinator, Entry will also ensure that our study site is compliant with consortium data collection standards, regularly communicate with the consortium about our study site’s progress, ensure that all data collected is processed and uploaded to consortium supported databases, provide support for other study staff members by answering questions, ensure that materials needed for data collection are prepared prior to each research visit, as well as oversee administrative-related tasks such as filing, copying, data processing and other general duties in support of the goals of the study. The candidate will also attend and lead weekly laboratory staff meetings with the PIs and senior staff members.  

Essential qualifications include multi-tasking, dependability, attention to detail, and ability to work at a fast paced, timely manner. Skilled at oral, email, and written communication. The candidate must be able to interact and communicate effectively with participants, study staff, and OHSU investigators and collaborators. Previous experience working with mothers and infants in a research setting is desired.  Prior experience in EEG/ERP data collection is preferred. Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel, is preferred.  Interest in mental health or healthcare is desired. A regular work schedule will be assigned and must be maintained. The candidate will be required to perform weekend and evening work as needed to complete the goals of the study. 

Required Qualifications Bachelor's in relevant field AND 1 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.Basic computer and office related skills.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Very strong organizational skills.Ability to work at a computer workstation for most of the business day. Ability to work with families and children. Ability to maintain a safe working environment. Ability to express complex ideas and processes to study participants, co-workers and supervisors. Preferred Qualifications Major studies in Psychology, Biology, or a related field.Previous experience working with pregnant people, parents and children is desired.  Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel, is preferred.Experience working with infants.Experience with brain imaging in a research setting.REDCap data tool experience highly desired.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills preferred.
