The University of Virginia School of Medicine Center of Diabetes Technology (CDT) seeks a Research Scientist to work in the research center under the direction of Professor Marc Breton, PhD, world-renowned researcher in the field of diabetes and data science. The center maintains strong ties with the Schools of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Data Science. The candidate will join the center’s highly collaborative research group.
Successful candidates will join CDT engineering group and participate in multiple projects focused on the design, testing, and deployment of technology-based interventions to improve diabetes management and clinical outcomes. Center projects are by nature varied and require interdisciplinary activities with specific focus on mathematical modelling of physiological processes and behaviors, signal processing and information extraction, automatic control, simulation, code development, and software deployment.
Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as evidenced by a solid track record of scientific manuscripts and presentations.

Education: Requires a doctoral degree or master's degree with significant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. in Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics. All But Dissertation status may be accepted. Master’s degree in the field above with at least 5 years’ research experience may be accepted. Preference given to applicants with post-doctoral research experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
