Job Description Summary
We are seeking research personnel with specialized training (i.e., minimum of MPH, MSc, or MS) in epidemiology and/or biostatistics to support the analyses and reporting of clinical epidemiology research in the area of pediatric oncology. Under the direction and guidance of the principal investigator (PI), they will provide analytic support for research involving prospective data from clinical trials and observational studies, electronic health records, large administrative, claims, and echo imaging databases. The biostatistician will support research consultations and assist with proposal development, analytic plan construction, conducting analyses, and manuscript drafting. The biostatistician will also provide statistical support for various research activities including database management, implementing customized statistical analyses using existing tools with and without modification, programming support for methods and tool development activities, and generating tables and figures for publications
Job Description
This role will have data management and quantitative data analysis responsibilities as well as project coordination responsibilities. The candidate will independently perform study coordination, data collection and management, and statistical analyses based on plans developed collaboratively with the research team. They will apply new epidemiologic and biostatistical techniques for ongoing projects, participate in the interpretation and reporting of study results, support the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the development of grant proposals for external funding. They will serve as a collaborative member of the group by supporting a variety of research initiatives and interacting with other researchers within the institution and at other institutions.
Job Responsibilities
+ Under guidance of PI, develop detailed plans to guide statistical analyses consistent with specific study objectives .
+ Perform data management for established cohorts and linked data from multiple sources. This includes the efficient creation of analytic grade datasets based on analytic plan .
+ Conduct statistical programming and analysis including the analysis of clinical data from varied sources applying advanced epidemiologic and biostatistics methods.
+ Write descriptions of analyses and findings for research protocols and grant proposals, and calculate sample size requirements for studies .
+ Draft methods sections and results summaries and contribute the interpretation of findings for peer-reviewed abstractions, presentations, and manuscripts .
+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Master's in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, economics or related field, with at least three (3) years of clinical research experience, or a PhD in the above fields with at least one (1) year of clinical research experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three (3) years of experience SAS, SAS/SQL, SAS/GRAPH, SAS macros, with statistical expertise in programming of common statistical methods in medical and clinical related research preferred. Familiar with database utilization in statistical analysis, like MS Access, Filemaker Pro, Oracle, MS SQL server. Familiar with both Unix system and Windows OS System is required. [Preferred] Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills, high-level of personal initiative; ability to work independently as well as collaborate in teams. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate clearly.
