Chewy is seeking a Research Scientist II Intern for its Supply Chain Research and Planning Team in Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA. Combining a background in Supply Chain with a deep understanding of analytics and data science, you will be part of an organization responsible for strategic planning and research initiatives centered around our inventory and fulfillment! Our approach of thinking about our customers first and ability to adapt quickly has built an opportunity to rethink and redesign our supply chain optimization frameworks from ground up. What You’ll Do
Develop and implement models and algorithms to tackle sophisticated supply chain problems using operations research, statistics, and machine learning technologies Investigate large supply chain data to explain change, develop insights, and provide recommendations Partner with Supply Chain’s functional areas (with Demand Planning, S&OP, Transportation, and Supply Planning) to streamline and optimize our Supply Chain across the board Implement process improvement initiatives that drive improvements to the metrics and streamline the Supply Chain
What You’ll Need
Enrolled full-time in a PhD program in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field, with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2026 1+ years of hands-on academic or practical experience in developing and deploying optimization, predictive and machine learning models Knowledge and experience in inventory optimization highly preferred Python and SQL proficiency Experience in at least one of the optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, Xpress, etc. Ability to use collaborative programming tools (Git, Confluence, etc.) Ability to translate sophisticated data sets and research into simple business recommendations Ability to lead multiple projects and prioritize challenging requirements Ability to understand and apply sophisticated mathematics and statistics Ability to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, from June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025#LI-DNI
The specific hourly range offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
