Scope of JobUnder minimal supervision of the division chief or medical director of research, and with a high degree of autonomy, the Research Scientist works as a team leader and co-investigator to lead research aspects of the department. Research Scientist will design, collaborate, plan, perform data analysis and prepare reports. The Research Scientist - Laboratory will also perform laboratory procedures and carry through an independent research program. The Research Scientist - Clinical will lead and support clinical research activities. Independent planning and grant preparation for research projects in Research Department.
Maintain an active research program through the identification of relevant areas of study, developing appropriate approaches, and presenting the results. Collaborate with other researchers and trainees to generate research ideas and develop protocols.
Will manage all aspects of the research laboratory, including staff selection and training, project assignment and scheduling, monitoring of project funds, coordination of data generation and analysis, and acquisition and use of equipment and facilities.
Review current literature in relevant fields. Critically evaluate research data and prepare research results for publication in refereed journals and presentations at scientific meetings.
Seek grant support for new and/or continuing research activities, including identification of funding sources, grant development and preparation, managing of awarded grants.
Participate and/or lead routine departmental research meetings; serve on research committees as delegated.
Provide research methodology training to research fellows, postdocs, residents, technicians, and students.
Perform related departmental/divisional duties as assigned.
QualificationsResearch Scientist - Magnetic Resonance requires a PhD degree in medical physics, physics, engineering, or related fields with PhD training in MR research.2 years of relevant experience postdoctoral research training and/or experience, including evidence of research productivity. RequiredExperience working with graduate students and/or medical students (excludes Magnetic Resonance and Image Processing) RequiredEvidence of authorship and grant submissions. RequiredResearch Scientist – Laboratory; experience with specialized techniques and procedures used in research specific department (excludes Magnetic Resonance and Image Processing).
