Objective / Purpose:
Work independently as a senior scientific consultant or as a project lead in early-stage, matrixed teams to identify and characterize new therapeutic targets in autoimmune or IBD disease research.
Support early clinical candidate selection by designing in vitro and in vivo studies and executes or manages the execution of the preclinical pharmacology studies that support clinical development.
Provide deep scientific expertise in immunology acting as a subject matter expert, contributing to assessments of potential collaborations with internal and external partners.
Oversees novel scientific projects and may manage the work of others directly or in a matrixed structure.
Demonstrates broad knowledge of immunology, autoimmune disease, cell therapy, primary cell isolation and functional analysis, gene editing, and the principles and experimental techniques needed for identifying targets and validating therapeutic candidates.
Acts as the recognized scientific resource on programs
Identifies, plans, and executes novel scientific projects and may manage the work of others a direct or matrixed structure.
Independently plans assignments for a research work group or project, develops and validates new methods to support completion of complex assignments within a project.
Collaborates with others and acts as scientific resource for programs.
Independently develops solutions and strategies for target evaluation within own expertise and can solicit appropriate input from other disciplines.
Participates in early clinical candidate selection and asset characterization in support of clinical trials.
Ensures the appropriate conduct of studies, leads the interpretation of study results, and prepares study reports suitable for internal or regulatory use.
Scientifically assesses and recommends vendors and outsources nonclinical studies to appropriate contract research organizations.
Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
Education
PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years' experience or
MS with 8+ years' experience, or
BS with 10+ years' experience
Skills
Can design an experimental protocol, collect and interpret data
Adept at isolation and running in vitro assays with cell lines and primary human immune cells.
Experienced with multi-color flow cytometry of human and mouse immune cell subsets
Familiar with operation of multi-plexed protein detection systems (e.g. Luminex)
Familiar with standard molecular biology techniques

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
133,000.00 - 209,000.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
