*The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine Department of Pathology is currently seeking a Research Study Coordinator.* The mission of the Department of Pathology is to increase the knowledge and understanding of disease process mechanisms. Through our focus in the key areas of cancer, infectious disease, neuropathology, new prognostic and diagnostic tools, immunology, genomics, tumor biology, animal models, and biodefense, we maximize our research efforts by encouraging both independent and collaborative research opportunities. We remain dedicated in our pursuit. Under direct supervision, the *Research Study Coordinator* serves as the primary technical support to a clinical drug trial or other research study. This position requires a medical background at the para-professional level. Employees whose job duties require them to work in clinical settings or at clinical or field sites continue to be subject to the vaccine requirements of those sites. *This position is required to be vaccinated against COVID−19*. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** * Identify potential candidates for enrollment in the project and determine eligibility. * Contact eligible candidates by letter and/or telephone to seek willingness to participate. * Arrange meeting location, date, and time. * Meet candidate, obtain written consent to participate, conduct questionnaire-based interview and record patient responses electronically. * Obtain blood and urine specimens. * On completion of the above, upload questionnaire into secure data base. * Complete required training. * Transport biologic specimens to laboratory. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* *EDUCATION*: High School Diploma or GED required. **Preferred*Education: *Bachelor's degree. *EXPERIENCE*: Four years directly related experience in a medical/research setting. *Preferred Experience*: Prior clinical research experience (recruitment, consenting, and data collection). Phlebotomy skills a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft platform. Phlebotomy training or willingness to undergo training. Willingness to use personal transportation to client location, interview, and collect biologic specimens. *Other: *Related experience may be substituted for education. *K**NOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:*General knowledge of patient care, treatment, planning, and assessment. General knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique and infection control including blood and body fluid precautions. Ability to perform extensive standing and walking. General knowledge of skill and ability to perform various medical and nursing procedures and to operate medical equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate computers and other office equipment. General knowledge of and compliance with confidentiality of records and communications regarding clients.
