Through this community of healers, scientists, and scholars, Rutgers is equipped as never before to transform lives. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II for the department of Neurology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under direction, is responsible for the management of multiple patient-oriented and translational research projects. Designs and conducts highly specialized, technical research in the area of aging, cognition, and fluid biomarkers. May assign tasks to technicians and be assisted by lower-level professionals.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists in the establishments of performance standards as well as the selection of methodology and instrumentation. Performs multiple research and technical operations independently or as assigned (including research participant recruitment and engagement, neuropsychological testing, survey-based work, database management, processing of biological samples according to Standard Operating Procedures, simple and complex biological assays with high precision), followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions. Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions. Assists with the preparation of proposals, formal applications and justifications for grant applications. Develops recommendations regarding budget proposals for the laboratory area. Monitors the laboratory’s budgets. Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to research activity. Coordinates the work of professional and non-professional staff. Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
