Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for NJMS-Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, conducts specialized basic research experiments, trains students and staff as specified, and assists in the preparation of science-related documents as described in the job description. Also assists in the management and coordination of a small research laboratory.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation. Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development. Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current. As assigned, performs various research and technical procedures. Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians and laboratory assistants as assigned. Keeps detailed records of procedures, experiments, and data analysis. Presents experimental results at lab and Departmental meetings, and national conferences as determined by the Principal Investigator. Conducts targeted literature searches and online web searches as directed of relevant material needed to inform and advance brainstorming and developing hypotheses in the laboratory of the Principal Investigator. Submits purchase recommendations to the Principal Investigator of supplies, reagents, and equipment
