School of Dental Medicine Orthodontics Department laboratory is seeking a laboratory assistant to perform a variety of experiments and procedures including working with mice, preparing specimens, overseeing supply management, and operating and properly maintaining equipment.

Performs a variety of experiments, including mouse breeding and sample collection, histology, and molecular biology experiments, to generate data for manuscripts and grant applications. A tech is also needed to order and manage supplies and reagents and operate and properly maintain equipment in the lab.

The lab tech must be comfortable handling, breeding, and euthanizing mice for sample collection and will be trained to genotype mice. The technician will perform a variety of laboratory experiments such as tissue sectioning, histology, and molecular techniques, and will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting experimental protocols with the help of the PI and other lab members. The lab tech will also be involved in basic manipulation and analysis of MicroCT data. The tech will manage ordering, procurement, and receiving of lab supplies and reagents; operate and maintain laboratory equipment for job functions; keep detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books; and organize and document results. The tech will be expected to welcome volunteers and students in the lab, and be a respectful and collegial member of the shared CCR lab space.
