Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.

The Brandes Lab at the Center for Human Genetics and Genomics, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, is seeking a Research Technician to support various aspects of our computational biology research. The role may involve assisting with grant writing, overseeing the operations of a computational lab, and maintaining high standards for our codebases. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in research operations and computational biology. For more information about our lab, visit brandeslab.org

Job Responsibilities:

Grant writing & scientific communication: Assist in the preparation of grant applications, including literature reviews and drafting sections, with attention to detail in presenting complex scientific concepts clearly.Lab operations: Oversee computational lab operations, including coordinating resources, facilitating collaborations within and outside the lab, organizing events, managing the hiring process, and maintaining the lab's online presence.Computational support: Support the maintenance of the labs codebase and assist users, emphasizing high code and open-source standards such as easy installation.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Programming proficiency (optional): Strong skills in Python and high coding standards.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $27.47 - $35.31 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
