The Fischer Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a Structural and Chemical Biology Lab that combines a broad range of laboratory techniques to study the pathways and protein complexes involved in the regulation of protein homeostasis often associated with human diseases, including cancer. Using our knowledge of the cellular degradation machinery, we use structure and computational guided approaches to develop and test new molecules that hijack the ubiquitin proteasome system for targeted protein degradation. Combining fundamental mechanistic insights with translational chemical biology research, we are pioneering new therapeutic avenues.

 

The Fischer lab (https://fischerlab.dana-farber.org/) seeks a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Research Technician. This individual will be an important member of our research team and will be centrally involved in assisting various research projects of the Fischer Lab. In addition to the bench-based research, responsibilities will also include some aspects of laboratory management and organization. Training is available in all aspects of experimental research

Responsibilities Responsible for cell culture and performing drug treatmentsPrepares lab reagents and mediaPerforms protein expression and purification proceduresConduct standardized biological or biochemical assays and laboratory analyses, eg. TR-FRET, FP, pull downs, cell-based assays, western blot, flow cytometryAnalyzes experimental data and interpret results to write reports, presentations, grant and publication preparationUses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform work duties.Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activitiesOperation and maintenance of standard lab equipmentMaintains and orders laboratory suppliesCommunicates with purchasing and may be responsible for negotiating with vendors Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or “pre-med” preferred. Research experience (>1-2 yr) in molecular biology or biochemistry preferred. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems. Must have close attention to detail and consistent work habits. Ability to work within a team environment. A minimum time commitment of 2 years is preferred.
