The focus of research conducted in Dr. William Grady’s laboratory in the Translational Science & Therapeutics Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is the study of the molecular and cell biology of gastrointestinal cancer as well as the role of genetic and epigenetic alterations in cancer.
Responsibilities
Under general supervision of the PI and senior post-doctoral fellows in the lab, the Research Technician will perform varied support functions requiring knowledge and skills specific to the research study.
Job responsibilities will include the following:
Collection and processing of human and mouse tissue samplesDNA, RNA extraction from fresh frozen or formalin fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue samples Proficient with real-time PCR technologyProtein extraction, cell fractionation, western blot, and immunoprecipitationResponsible for the organization of specimen inventory in short-term and long-term storageIn vitro cell culture experimentsMouse husbandry/colony management with transgenic and conditional knock-out miceMaintain a database used for organizing the current inventory and tracking the location of specific information/specimensCollect and analyze dataMonitor adherence to study protocol Inform PI of deviations from study protocol Attend project meetings Keep detailed records for experiments Maintain a high level of accuracy for all workPerform other duties as assigned QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the biological sciences with strong background in molecular biology and cell biology, or equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of studyDemonstrated basic laboratory skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
