What We Want The Research Technician I will perform entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving the performance of routine tasks. The selected candidate will join a research lab focused on understanding the neural circuits regulating circadian rhythms. Major techniques in the lab will include rodent surgeries, histology, behavioral analyses, and microscopy. The primary duties of the Research Technician I will include animal husbandry and colony management, animal surgeries, histology, and microscopy. What You Need to Know Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience. Required Education and Experience: + High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience + ​ Two years of related experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Ability to lift moderately heavy objects + Strong track record of organizational, written, and oral communication skills + Detail-oriented, independent, and have excellent interpersonal skills + Proficient at basic computer skills + Physical dexterity and ability to use the required equipment to perform duties Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, neuroscience or related field + Previous experience working in a biological sciences or neurosciences lab strongly preferred + Experience with small animal surgeries and/or colony management strongly preferred Responsibilities: + Research: Perform histology including tissue collection, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and image analysis. Collect samples and measurement data from experiments. Perform other research duties as assigned. + Surgery: Perform small animal surgeries and post-operative care for mice. + Animal Husbandry: Assist in managing mouse colonies including breeding, genotyping, and record keeping. Assist senior staff members in conducting experiments and consults in developing procedures. + Behavioral Testing: Perform behavioral analyses in mice. + Record Keeping: Collect and compile data. Maintain experimental/research data and summarization of data. + Lab Preparation: Prepare reagents and buffers. Maintain general lab supplies. Assemble and operate technical equipment.
