Job Summary
The Research Technician I, under general supervision p erforms entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Follows policies, processes, and procedures to perform job duties in a safe manner at all times.
+ Cleans seed, performs germination test, and records findings.
+ Plant, water, and maintain greenhouse as needed.
+ Collects, germinates, propagates, and harvests native plant seed.
+ Establishes and maintains native plant fields.
+ Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
+ Collects and compiles data. Computes, quantitates, and extends projections .
+ Assembles and operates technical equipment.
+ Performs labor intensive activities in all weather conditions throughout the work shift.
+ Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.
+ Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
Education – High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – Two years of related experience.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements – Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. Ability to exert heavy force.

+ Native Plant Identification skills
+ Greenhouse operations and maintenance

Other Requirements
+ Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends not to exceed 40 hour work week.
+ Position may involve work away from official duty location to remote sites and may also require overnight travel at times

This position generally does not supervise employees.
