Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** Regularly provides routine technical support for research activities and/or laboratory support. Applies full range of experience and previous job knowledge; frequently adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet specialized needs. Assists with the design of new experiments, multimedia sampling, maintenance, operation and calibration of scientific monitoring equipment for research projects. Responsible for general data collection and assisting with analysis, recruiting participants, and may support and assist other technicians. Responsibilities GENERAL PURPOSE: We are currently seeking a skilled Lab Technician specializing in Protein Expression, Cell, and Tissue Culture to join our research team. This role involves the maintenance and execution of protein expression, cell, and tissue culture experiments. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree and ideally possess 1-2 years of laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology. This position is integral to providing proteins and live cells to support ongoing research efforts and to mentor students in basic and advanced chemical biology techniques. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintaining the cell and tissue culture facility in the lab; Keeping the supply sterilized and the cell lines properly stored - Performing the protein expression and purification - Train graduate and undergraduate students in the lab techniques involving protein expression and cell and tissue culture - Order supply for the cell and tissue culture section of the lab - Involve in experiment of projects in the lab and write protocols for experiments QUALIFICATIONS: - High School diploma or GED w/ lab experience minimum - Bachelor degree preferred - Lab work in a biochemistry, cell or molecular biology lab - 1 to 2-year work with a publication - Protein Expression, Cell and Tissue Culture - Animal experiment experience - Degree in Biochemistry or Biology preferred **EOE Minorities / Females / Protected Veterans / Disabled:** The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the University’s mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create – and Make the World Ever Better.
