Research Technician (PSS4, Full-time Temporary), Department of Biomedical Sciences, CMSRU

The Martinez laboratory is seeking a qualified research technician to aid with and perform experiments relevant to a newly funded NIH grant in the areas of neuroscience, pharmacology, and physiology. The position offers an excellent training environment. Individuals hired for this position will be trained in plethysmography, telemetry, animal surgeries, immunohistochemistry, and animal injections. The individual will have the opportunity to author peer-reviewed publications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Assist and run experiments related to plethysmography (respiration) and telemetry during exposure to different drug paradigms in a rodent model.
+ Analysis of cardiorespiratory data, and preparation of figures.
+ Fix, section, and process brain tissue for immunohistochemical analyses.
+ Prepare reagents, stock solutions, drug solutions, and maintain records.
+ Participates in laboratory meetings and has the opportunity to present data.
+ Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned by the principal investigator.
Education and/or Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree (or higher) with major/concentration in Neuroscience, Physiology, Biology, or related disciplines. OR related experience (5+ years) in in vivo models
+ Prior research experience in the areas of neuroscience and physiology is preferred, however, not required.
+ Experience with animals is a plus, but not required.
+ Applicants should: 1) be organized, 2) be dependable, 3) be able to multitask, 4) be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, and 5) demonstrate a genuine interest in science.
+ Direct experience with any techniques and skills listed under Essential Duties and Responsibilities is highly preferred but not necessary; computer literacy and strong interpersonal and communication skills are highly preferred.
The Martinez Lab is located in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Our department contains an interactive group of investigators whose research programs include topics in cardiovascular systems, neuroscience, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, physiology, and circadian rhythms.
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University is located in Camden, NJ; just over the bridge from Philadelphia and 1.5 hours from New York City.
