Research Technologist

The Rangan Lab in the Department of Biology at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a **_Research Technologist_** . Our lab studies RNA editing in cephalopods (squid, cuttlefish, and octopus) to understand how RNA recoding modifies molecular, cellular, and organismal functions. Our lab spans both laboratory and fieldwork, specializing in RNA biology, transcriptomics, and protein biochemistry. We are looking for someone to join our team to provide support in the lab with preparation, maintenance and experimentation.
**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Perform laboratory experiments by following common protocols or with instruction.
+ Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
+ Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitoring inventory of supplies, cleaning equipment.
+ Preparing laboratory reagents (preparing media, lab stocks)
+ Organizing lab stocks and assisting with inventory management.
+ Assisting in cephalopod care.
+ Aid in experiments as needed under the supervision of principal investigators.
+ Attending weekly lab meetings.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
+ Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Coursework or experience in molecular biology methods.
+ Experience with microscopy.
+ Experience with coding.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
