Summary of Job Duties:Under the supervision of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute (WPRCI) Research Writer Manager, the Research Writer will be responsible for the development and of specific grant-funded projects and other special projects for the WPRCI. This person will initiate, develop, manage, and assist researchers in the preparation of research program, shared-instrument, and training grant applications to federal agencies and private foundations. The Research Writer will also generate, prepare, and assist in development of periodic WPRCI reports, promotional, and educational materials as needed. This person will work with other members of the Research Writing Team to prepare content for the WPRCI website and assist with clinical trials protocols as needed. The research writer’s agenda will be determined in conjunction with CI leadership and report to the Research Writer Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years related experience, or a Master’s Degree plus 1 year experience
Candidates must have the ability to synthesize information into scientific format and logical arguments and prepare figures and tables using contemporary software.
Experience with scientific writing is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
Experience working with physicians or scientists regarding the development and submissions of research, publications, and other related academic activities

Responsibilities:
Researches, drafts, edits, and formats documents including, but not limited to, clinical research protocols and accompanying study materials, grants, internal and network-wide meeting summaries, standard operating procedures, newsletters, scientific manuscripts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations.
Review documents to ensure clarity, completeness, and accuracy per content requirements.
Facilitates manuscript submissions to peer-reviewed journals throughout the submission process, including overseeing proofs and interfacing with editors.
Collaborates with project managers, subject matter experts, and various coordinating center and network personnel to support writing and editing assignments.
Coordinates writing team meetings.
Establishes a timeline for writing projects.
Assists the Senior Investigator in completing basic clinical research and data analysis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
