Position Title Residence Life - Summer Student Facilities Assistant - Maintenance and Paint Student Status Work Study Optional –You are not required to be a Federal Work Study Recipient to hold this position. Work Location Springfield Campus Department Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services Hiring Range $12.30/hour Department/Employer Operating Hours Monday-Friday - 8:00am-4:30pm How many hours per week are required? 20-40/week Description of Primary Duties Maintenance and Paint Crew Assist with preventative and planned maintenance work Assist with changing air filters, bulbs, and belts, which may require the use of four-foot and six-foot ladders Clean cooling coils and equipment Unclog and fix sinks, stools, and urinals Assemble shelving units Repairing chairs or tables Evaluate and track paint needs and prioritize when needed Maintain the paint storage areas and all painting supplies (clean, orderly, etc.) Paint various surfaces according to instructions with various tools Organization skills to keep parts stocked and sorted Other duties, as assigned Required Qualifications Must have experience taking things apart and making repairs; use of power tools Must have experience using basic hand tools including screwdrivers and wrenches. Must have experience with hand tools including drills, saws, impact, etc. Preference in basic wood working, mechanical, and/or plumbing skills. Good Communication, public relations, and customer service skills Must be detail-oriented, punctual, dependable, and able to work independently Must be able to read, write, and understand English sufficiently enough to understand verbal and written instruction Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, stoop, stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders/stairs Ability to work as a team Prioritize time and tasks to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner Required Certifications N/A Additional Qualifications Must have experience working with hand tools, power tools, and facilities maintenance-type work.
