About the Company: Sandy Park Development Center provides support for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities by enhancing their quality of life. We do this through community involvement and participation as well as enrichment opportunities throughout their life. As a member of our staff, you will be a part of one of these living centers and provide vital around the clock care, which includes nursing and medical oversight, to our residents. Facility Name and Address: Sandy Park Development Center 2975 Garden Street North Fort Myers - 33917 Purpose: This position assists the Direct Support Professional staff to meet the daily direct care needs of facility residents. These can include daily grooming, meal service, risk mitigation and following any applicable behavioral management plans as defined by the resident individual needs. Essential Duties: Identifies hazards or dangerous behaviors in the environment and takes immediate action to avoid, mitigate or eliminate, and report hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors. Ensures the safety of self, residents/consumers, co-workers, families, guardians and visitors at all times. Follow daily shift assignment schedule for cleaning and housekeeping duties, conduct daily rounds of all bedrooms and deliver clean linen and housekeeping supplies daily to each building. Communicate resident concerns: clothing needs, personal supplies, items in need of repair, behaviors, health, appetite, physical management, etc. to supervisor. Maintain residents' closets/drawers in organized manner. Maintain personal supplies box and ensure all items are properly labeled. Maintain outside patio, spray outside equipment and sidewalks as needed to decrease growth of mold and mildew. Assure that the work/assignment areas are clean, and that equipment tolls and supplies are properly stored, keep floors clean, dry and free of unnecessary equipment to prevent accidents. Required Qualification: High School Diploma or equivalent education is required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Preferred Qualifications: 6 months experience preferred working with Intellectual/Developmental Disability populations.
