Resident Engineer is responsible for the effective administration of construction contracts representing the Owner’s interest on transportation related projects. Capable of utilizing engineering judgement in evaluating and resolving technical issues; leading project teams; interfacing with the Owner, designers, contractor, and permitting agencies; and effectively delivering results on time. Positions available in Concord, CA.  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Manage the assigned on-site construction administration and inspection staff.  Monitor and enforce contractor compliance with plans and specifications. Facilitate construction of the project on time and within budget.  Attend progress, owner, stakeholder, and community meetings. Resolve technical issues.  Review and/or prepare project schedules and budgets.  Prepare and issue reports and correspondence (i.e., submittals, RFI’s, non-conformance)  Prepare and approve pay quantities and progress payments.  Review and/or prepare construction cost estimates.  Negotiate and prepare construction change orders.  Perform constructability reviews and value engineering studies.  Lead claims/risk management assessments.  Prepare and monitor Quality Control and Assurance Plans.    Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with the client, contractor, and regulatory agencies. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management   Prefer 2+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer, Project Manager or Construction Manager Prefer California Professional Engineer (PE) license
