Location: Hungary
Reporting to the responsible Advanced Services Lead in the DACH region, this is a highly technical role, providing implementation and operational support on-site and remotely for Juniper Network products.
The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain an expertise on the products deployed within the customer’s network and provide mentoring on Juniper solutions.
This is a position with regular on-site work at the customer site in Hungary, working as part of a wider Juniper Customer Services team.
The candidate will need to demonstrate a proven track of experience in the Resident Engineering environment. This is a senior role, and the candidate must be able to work on his own, under live network environment pressure.
Responsibilities:
In the frame of the Operational & Technical support to the customer, the Resident Engineer will carry out activities in the following typical key areas:
Design Validation and Verification testingInteroperability testing, multi-vendorAcceptance testing of new software releasesAdaptation of test cases for automated testingConsulting services for new features and technologiesImplementation supportKnowledge Transfer to customer staffTroubleshooting/fault finding and supporting operationsOperational assistance (customer NOC)Software Versioning ReviewAnalyzing network configurationsAssisting with network inventory tracking and managementTesting Juniper Networks product features and functionalityProviding regular updates on work in progress and current issuesDeveloping network and equipment operating proceduresAssisting in the ongoing definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the network and servicesOpening and helping drive Juniper TAC cases through to problem resolution Producing written summary reports of the status of equipment and network problems, plus pertinent technical documentation, as requested by the customerHolding technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems and provide the reasons for problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being triedTraining the customer’s implementation and support personnel to configure and operate Juniper Networks products and best practicesAssisting the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures. The RE may also need to develop secondary skills in other products in the Juniper portfolioServing as a central point of contact between the customer, Account Team, Juniper Technical Assistance Centre (JTAC), Engineering, Product Line Management (PLM) and Customer ServicesBeing part of the customer’s operating team for maintenance windows, supporting software upgrades and migrationsWorking on automation and developing scripts
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 5-year experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products (routers and switches) in WAN and LAN environments.
The ideal candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate the following credentials:
A detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills should include:TCP/IP fundamentalsIP sub-netting and super-netting and hierarchical routing principlesRouting protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, RSVP, IPv6, Segment Routing and BGP)Routing policies at BGP peering pointsVPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.)Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of switches and IP routers. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzersStrong experience in troubleshooting complex issues both at the device-level and network-level, in a multi-vendor environment. Able to isolate and identify configuration and product issuesComprehensive understanding of new WAN architectures including for segment routing SRv6 Understanding of multicast protocols and implementation of IPTV services over an IP infrastructureComprehensive understanding of Broadband Networks Gateway (BNG) using protocols such as PPPoE and RADIUS as well as a fundamental understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) and Pseudowire Headend Termination (PWHT)Experience in managing and configuring Juniper MX or comparable BNG platforms is a plusPrevious experience with Juniper Networks products (ACX, MX, PTX, EX, QFX, SRX devices) and JUNOS softwareComfortable with Linux or other UNIX implementations, with scripting skillsStrong Interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural teamStrong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects and under pressureStrong communications skills; ability to clearly articulate findings in written and verbal communications targeting different audiences: technical and non-technical, staff and managementFluent in Hungarian and English (speaking, reading and writing)
Preferred Qualifications:
Juniper Networks Technical Certifications: JNCIP or JNCIEPrevious experience in network installation and deployment with ACX, MX, EX, QFX, PTX, SRX in a Service Provider or large enterprise environment
