Curry Hammock State Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill a Resident Park Manager II position. This Resident Park Manager II position requires an individual with strong leadership ability and resource management experience. Supervises the park staff and participates in the management of the area’s resources, facilities and public use under existing rules and operating policies to provide the proper levels of administration, resource management, visitor services, protection and maintenance at Curry Hammock State Park and Long Key State Park. The applicant must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Curry Hammock State Park is the largest undeveloped parcel of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key.
Curry Hammock provides vital habitat for many local and migrating species and hosts record numbers of peregrine falcons every fall.
On calm days, paddlers come and go finding their own quiet slice of paradise, and on windy, wild days, the park bubbles with the activity and excitement of kiteboarders.
The park protects large areas of mangrove swamp, rockland hammocks and seagrass beds essential to the Florida Keys ecosystem.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.
Supervises the park staff and participates in the management of the area’s resources, facilities and public use under existing rules and operating policies to provide the proper levels of administration, resource management, visitor services, protection and maintenance at Curry Hammock State Park and Long Key State Park
ADMINISTRATION
Demonstrates, models and reinforces the agency’s mission of “More Protection. . .Less Process” and the fundamental values of fairness, cooperation, respect, commitment, excellence, honesty and teamwork. Prepares forms and reports on a wide range of subjects and submits within established timeframes. The employee demonstrates this competency in their interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and service recipients; in the personal contributions to work assignments and projects and representing the agency or the state.
Provides for employee selection, training, supervision and discipline. Prepares, implements and controls the work scheduling and assignments for the park staff and maintains good employee relations.
Ensures employee evaluations are completed within established guidelines.
Prepares budget requests, provides for effective expenditure of appropriations, supervises the collection of fees, is responsible for all facility and equipment inventories, and implements established policies for fiscal control and accountability.
Promotes a constructive and beneficial relationship between the park’s volunteers and the Florida Park Service.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Demonstrates the ability to implement and guide the resource management plan for the area park(s), as outlined in the current unit management plan(s).
VISITOR SERVICES
Maintains good public relations: working with local and state government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and volunteers, in an effort to get community and organizational support in obtaining park goals and objectives.
MAINTENANCE
Demonstrates knowledge of building maintenance and construction, and skill in operation of medium and heavy equipment and using a variety of hand tools.
Plans, implements and controls the area’s maintenance program. Identifies maintenance needs and provides supervision and management of the staff to maintain the facilities and support equipment for efficient area operation.
PROTECTION
Demonstrates the ability to implement and enforce all laws, rules, operating policies, leases, agreements and permits pertaining to this area.
May volunteer to snorkel.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP-422 (Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility).
