We are hiring a Residential Life Director (or co-directors) for The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) summer 2025 session. In this key role, you will shape an outstanding residential experience for the next generation of scientists and innovators, encouraging growth and connection within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Program Dates for PGSS 2025:
Arrival of Residential Life Staff; Begin orientation and training: Sunday, June 15, 2025
Arrival of student participants; PGSS Opening Ceremony: Sunday, June 22, 2025
Departure of student participants: Saturday, July 26, 2025
Departure of Residential Life Staff: Sunday, July 27, 2025
Your core responsibilities will include:
Coordinating the TA/Counselors (12-14 individuals aged approximately 18-25 years old) to maintain a cohesive team dynamic.
Living in the same dormitory as the students to foster a safe, collaborative living and learning environment.
Ensuring strict adherence to the university's disciplinary rules to maintain a respectful and productive community.
Leading, arranging, and conducting a variety of social activities that promote inclusivity and engagement among students.
Delivering outstanding leadership and mentorship to both students and staff, ensuring a world-class residential experience.
Fostering a safe, collaborative living and learning environment for the PGSS students. Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the Mellon College of Science. You should demonstrate:
A strong academic record and excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to interact optimally with a diverse population of internal and external partners with a high level of integrity.
Qualifications:
A college or university degree by the start of the summer program is required.
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Prior experience with PGSS or a similar summer program is preferred but not required.

PA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
