Residential Mental Health Worker II (MHW II) - 1st shift
The Brockton Multi Service Center Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS) Group Living Environment (GLE) Program operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic candidate who will serve as a MHW II within our residential programs. The ACCS MHW II provides rehabilitative services to Persons with major mental illness in ACCS (residential). Acts as an advocate for assigned Persons Served and maintains a trauma informed, person centered approach. Participates in the development and implements the Community Service Plan. Complete appropriate documentation of interventions and communication of pertinent information. Knowledge of DMH regulations and program procedures. Adheres to MAP policies and maintains certification. May provide supervision to MHW I staff on the same shift. *_Please Note:_*This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work first shift, 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The days off are Monday and Tuesday. *Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.* *_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_* * Provide supervision and modeling of effective person-centered approaches for all 1st shift MHWs throughout the three State Operated GLEs. * Provides feedback and engages staff in strategies to maintain or improve program operations as well as engaging clients therapeutically. * Assist in the development and implementation of person served Individual Action Plans through direct observation of the person served, full knowledge of the person served history, and engagement with the person served in order to assist them in learning the necessary skills to live successfully in the community. * Assist persons served in development of independent living skills, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, cooking, housekeeping, clothing maintenance, money management, and accessing/utilizing public transportation by utilizing motivational interviewing skill, counseling techniques, role modeling and/or other individualized or group best practices to promote person served growth. * Knowledge of all medications used within the program, including their indications, risks and side effects, and the ability to teach person served about their medications and how to take them appropriately by utilizing MAP related material and training. * Responsible for transporting or arranging transportation for persons served that need that level of service as needed. * Responsible for maintaining person served records in a timely manner by documenting in EMR and paper record and completing all other related forms to ensure compliance with DMH regulations and Rehab Option requirements. * Knowledge of all DMH regulations and program procedures pertaining to ACCS by reading the program and agency manual and receiving supervision by program manager or designee to ensure compliance and quality person served care. * Provide an oral shift report to at least one member of the oncoming shift; reading and writing all pertinent information in the vital log and communication with the person in charge all required and necessary information to facilitate communication and provide for continuity of care. *_Required Qualifications:_* * Possession of a current and valid class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required for this function. *_Preferred Qualifications:_* * Experience working with people with chronic/persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders. * Experience in and/or knowledge of human services desired. * MAP Certification * Previous experience working in a residential setting. * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. *_ Special Requirements:_* Please note in accordance with an agreement between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Mental Health and AFSCME/Council 93, employees assigned to a work unit where the Medication Administration Program (MAP) is used are required to pass MAP certification within 6 months of entering the position or 3 examination opportunities, whichever comes first.
