Residential Mortgage Community Loan Originator
Job Purpose & Scope Primarily responsible for sourcing all business from external sources and becoming a vital financial resource for borrowers in minority-majority areas, low to moderate-income communities, and individuals with low to moderate incomes. You will focus on educating and assisting potential borrowers with their mortgage needs, fostering partnerships with real estate professionals and housing agencies, and facilitating access to down payment assistance programs and bond loans. Essential Job Functions + Build a strong presence within minority-majority and low to moderate-income communities. Establish trust and rapport with residents by actively participating in community events, meetings, and outreach programs. + Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with local realtors, housing agencies, and other community stakeholders. Collaborate with these partners to expand your referral network and increase the Bank’s visibility within the community. + Act as a subject matter expert on down payment assistance programs and bond loans. Help eligible borrowers access these resources by guiding then through the application process and explaining eligibility requirements. + Complete and submit activity summary report to sales manager weekly. + Accurately complete and deliver initial disclosures. + Create rapport and trust with customers and referring partners. + Counsel with customers to identify mortgage loan needs and options. + Assist in the processing and closing of the loan in a professional manner that is profitable to the bank and creates customer loyalty. + Take complete, accurate, and compliant loan applications. + Order credit reports and resolve all discrepancies. + Input loan information into computer systems. + Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems for decisioning loans. + Order appraisals. + Cross-sell the customer on the use of other Bank products. + Proactively communicate loan status and progress to the customer. + Analyze property appraisals for Investor compliance. + Travel on Bank business. + Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of essential job functions. + Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work. + Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Knowledge of lending criteria/business needs, lending systems, and regulatory/investor lending guidelines + Knowledge of loan origination needs and milestones (i.e., origination, processing, underwriting, closing, products, vendor interfaces) + Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing + Ability to work without close supervision. + Ability to demonstrate effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with exacting deadlines. + Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. + Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and bank secrecy. + Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. + Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience required. + 2+ years’ residential mortgage experience, required. + Experience working in Encompass, preferred.
