S:US is seeking a Residential Specialist for their men's shelter in Brooklyn.
This position is located at 1000 Blake Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11208.
The Residential Specialist staff member will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment and that tenants are adhering to House Rules and program policies, monitoring surveillance systems, and acting as a role model to tenants and encourage program participation. In this role you will provide necessary support to residents for a variety of issues, make hourly observation rounds and document in the communication log, communicate incidents to supervisory staff via written incident reports and communication log, and attend staff meetings. You will also provide frontline crisis intervention, answer phones and route calls as needed, ensure reception area is tidy, and perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular scheduled rounds to ensure safety and residents wellbeingEnter activity log information and shift notes in a timely fashion and accurate manner.Complete necessary admissions paperworkAssist in escorting residents to services and activities outside of the facility, such as clinics, income maintenance centers and housing referralMeet with Shift Supervisor for individual and group supervisionPlanning, implementing and/or researching self-care and other social activities for residents conduct Resident Support groupsMeet with case managers on regular basis to assist in assigned tasksProvide initial orientation to programProvide administrative support in areas of office coverage, telephone and clerical work, food servicesUnderstand and follow emergency procedures, including fire drillsPerform other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor and Program DirectorAttend job related trainings and agency meetings as necessaryProvide meal coordination
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
HS Diploma or GED required1-2 years of experience in a community based, residential program requiredSecurity experience strongly preferred; CCTV, rounds of the facilityDe-escalation skills and familiarity with treatment setting strongly preferred
