Resource Coordinator

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing referral linkages and processes for the H.E.A.R.T. (Health Education And Relationship Talk) Initiative participants in need of care; facilitating relationships between BGCGM and school and/or community-based resources; assuring ongoing staff training in topics including wellness practices, trauma-responsive service delivery; and arranging consultations for educators, as necessary, with community resource providers.

 Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 direct service for youth that are self-referred or referred by educators. All participants will be given an assessment to determine their needs.Create and maintain relationships with referral networks such as school counselors, nurses, and/or social workers as well as community providers who specialize in youth programming.Create crisis resources, family planning resources, and mental health resources based on need.Assist youth who may be experiencing a crisis by utilizing active listening skills and providing the appropriate resources/referrals. Follow-up with students to ensure referral contact was made.Follow all state, federal, local, and school guidelines on reporting child abuse, sexual assault, and suicide/homicide ideation.Work with the BGCGM marketing department and/or other BGCGM departments to promote awareness of mental health issues and services as well as other health and wellness-related topics for project participants, and the public at large.Attend networking meetings of value/relevance to the health and wellness of youth.Work with the project evaluator to develop, track, and analyze program quality outcome measures.Facilitate presentations and reports relevant to community resources.Facilitate evidence-based curriculum to participants, if needed.Must participate in required trainings by the Club, and /or funder.

 Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

 Skills:

Elevated level of creativity and problem-solving ability. Demonstrated examples of managing

through a crisis.

Basic computer literacy and ability to utilize Excel and agency software for tracking budgets and attendance. Ability to learn and utilize modern technologies and apply technology to communication, organization, and other key job tasks.Ability to inspire and empower youth as they participate in programs that address both the needs and interests of the members served.


Additional Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of work experience, including 1 year in a mental health or other human services-related field.Working knowledge of mental health resources in MilwaukeeExperience in assessment of service and/or training needsKnowledge and experience of community resources for adolescents in populations such as MilwaukeeHold a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
