Caring for adult, pediatric and/or neonatal patient populations, Respiratory Therapy caregivers evaluate, treat and care for patients with a wide range of lung diseases and respiratory disorders, such as asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, COPD and lung cancer. **A caregiver in this position works rotating day and evening shifts from 7:00am - 3:30pm and 3:00pm - 11:30pm, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform respiratory therapy assessment with the guidance of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. + Provide basic respiratory therapy modalities to both adult and pediatric patients. + Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. + Attend in-service education lectures, programs, seminars and other educational opportunities. + Complete six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with equipment, develop the ability to perform independently and learn additional responsibilities specific to the institution. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Active enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. + Current temporary limited permit to practice respiratory care (RCP.L1) in the State of Ohio. + Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
